Police suspect assault after person falls four metres in Oulu

Police suspect an assault took place at Koitelinkoski in Oulu, after which a person fell several metres down a steep slope, Yle reports.

The person went over a railing at Koitelinkoski overnight from Friday to Saturday and fell about four metres down the slope, according to police.

Police have detained a person suspected of assault.

“The preliminary investigation is under way, and the criminal classifications may still change. Interviews with the parties involved and witnesses are still ongoing,” Detective Chief Inspector Minna Vuori said.

According to Vuori, the victim is not believed to be in mortal danger and appears to have escaped with relatively minor injuries.

Police expect to complete the interviews next week.

The Koiteli elää festival was being held nearby at the time. The newspaper Kaleva was the first to report the incident.
