OSAO invests 120 million euros in new Oulu vocational campus

OSAO, an education and training consortium, plans to build a 45,000-square-metre campus in Oulu’s Kaukovaini district in an investment worth about 120 million euros, Yle reports.

The development phase agreement for the Campus 2030 project has now been signed. It will be the largest investment in OSAO’s history.

Construction is scheduled to begin next spring. The campus will be built in three phases and is expected to be completed by 2031 at the latest.

The campus will bring together OSAO’s education in technical, service and welfare fields, as well as the consortium’s administrative functions. Oulu Adult Upper Secondary School and Oulu Conservatory will also operate there as tenants.

About 4,700 students and 540 staff members are expected to use the campus once it is complete.

“The most important thing is to secure high-quality vocational education for decades to come,” OSAO’s director general and rector, Jarmo Paloniemi, said in a statement.
