Man taken to hospital after fall in Grundarfjörður

A man was taken to hospital after falling near a campsite in Grundarfjörður, mbl.is reported.

The Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter was called out shortly after 5 a.m. because of the accident, according to Ásgeir Erlendsson, the Coast Guard’s information officer.

The helicopter flew from Reykjavík to meet an ambulance and landed at an intersection where the two vehicles met.

It later landed at Landspítali University Hospital in Fossvogur shortly before 7 a.m., where the man was taken for medical care.
