Students who have Faroese as a second language will now be eligible for travel support, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The Ministry of Education has drafted a proposal for regulations on the support and sent it out for consultation.
Many students have a long journey to their place of instruction and should therefore receive travel assistance, the ministry said.
The regulations would also be amended so that newly arrived students studying Faroese as a second language can receive domestic travel support, even if they are not entitled to ordinary student grants.
