Total solar eclipse plunges western Iceland into darkness

A total solar eclipse darkened western Iceland at around 5:45 p.m., with totality lasting about two minutes and 13 seconds at Látrabjarg, mbl.is reported.

The sky gradually grew darker until it became as dark as midnight. Temperatures also fell during the eclipse.

Totality lasted about one minute in the capital region, where daylight returned quickly once it ended. The partial eclipse continued and was expected to finish at around 6:45 p.m.
