Visitors hope to see eclipse darken skies through clouds

Visitors who travelled to Iceland to watch the solar eclipse are not letting the weather stop them, although they hope to see the change in daylight through the cloud cover, mbl.is reported.

“Hopefully, we will see everything become dark even if we cannot see the sun,” Elizabeth told an mbl.is reporter at Ægisíða. She was heading to Seltjarnarnes with her husband, Paul, to watch the eclipse.

“We think it is the best place within walking distance,” she said.

The couple said they had seen a solar eclipse in the United States three years ago and found it a unique sight.

“It stayed with us, so we wanted to take a trip like this, and that is why we are here today,” Elizabeth said.

She said they booked their trip to Iceland three years ago.
