Metsä Fibre will begin change negotiations covering all 225 employees at its bioproduct mill in Kemi, Yle reports.

The negotiations could lead to temporary layoffs lasting up to 90 days, according to the company. They will begin next week.

The mill’s cooking plant will be renovated during an investment-related shutdown in October and November. The resulting production stoppage will last six weeks, while the company also carries out the mill’s annual maintenance shutdown.

The negotiations concern temporary layoffs resulting from the prolonged production interruption. Metsä Fibre is part of Metsä Group.
