Icelandair will not change the routes of flights operating on Wednesday afternoon during the solar eclipse visible from Iceland, mbl.is reports. The airline will distribute solar eclipse glasses to passengers on both domestic and international flights after midday.

The total eclipse will begin at 5:48pm and last for one to two minutes, depending on where in Iceland viewers are located. The Moon will begin moving across the Sun at 4:47pm, and the eclipse will end at 6:47pm.

Icelandair will operate afternoon flights to North America and Greenland, while several aircraft are also expected to arrive in Keflavík from Europe during the eclipse.

“We will not make changes to flight routes because of the solar eclipse, but naturally hope that conditions will allow our passengers to enjoy the spectacle from the skies,” Ásdís Ýr Pétursdóttir, Icelandair’s information officer, said in a written response to mbl.is.
