Fifteen percent of respondents said Lindtman would be the most suitable choice. His support was 21 percent in a poll conducted in January.

Minja Koskela of the Left Alliance was the second most popular choice, with support rising to 12 percent.

Thirty percent of respondents could not name a preferred candidate for the next prime minister.

The survey was conducted by Iro Research in June and July among 1,000 people in Finland. The margin of error for the overall results was 3.1 percentage points in either direction.
