Coast Guard helicopter evacuates injured hiker from Skaftafell

A Coast Guard helicopter was called out to an injured hiker in Skaftafell on Monday evening, mbl.is reported.

The hiker was not seriously injured, according to Ásgeir Erlendsson, a communications officer for the Icelandic Coast Guard. However, conditions were difficult, making it appropriate to request assistance from the helicopter.

The helicopter was heading to Reykjavík, where the injured person would be taken by ambulance to the emergency department.
