Rescue teams mobilized for trapped tourists near Kerlingafjöll mountains in South Iceland

Rescue teams in South Iceland have been mobilized to assist two tourists trapped in a cave following a rockfall. The exact location of the individuals is currently unknown, but it is believed they are near the Kerlingafjöll mountains.

Jón Þór Víglundsson, a spokesperson for the Icelandic Search and Rescue Association (Landsbjörg), indicated that rescue operations are still in the early stages. Initial rescue teams from South Iceland have already set out, and teams from the capital area are preparing to assist. A helicopter has also been dispatched to aid in the search.
