La Barceloneta to close Reykjavik restaurant and seek new premises

Spanish restaurant La Barceloneta will close its premises at Templarasund 3 in Reykjavik on August 16, mbl.is reports.

In a message to customers on Facebook, the restaurant’s operators said they could not continue renting the current space. They thanked the premises as they prepared to leave.

La Barceloneta has aimed to introduce Icelanders to Spanish culture and cuisine while creating an authentic Barcelona atmosphere in Reykjavik. The restaurant is known for its Catalan paellas and tapas.

The business will continue in a limited form while it searches for new premises. Its most popular dishes will remain available through a delivery service.

On its final opening day, August 16, the restaurant will offer guests free paella as a temporary farewell to its customers.
