Summer warmth returns to southern Norway

Summer temperatures are expected to return to parts of eastern and southern Norway, with Oslo potentially reaching 27C and seeing plenty of sunshine by the weekend, Dagbladet reports. Other parts of the country will remain cooler and wetter.

After a cooler period across Norway, state meteorologist Idunn Hana said temperatures would rise in the coming days, particularly in Eastern Norway and Southern Norway.

“In Oslo, we can definitely say that summer is returning. It could reach around 27 degrees by the weekend, with plenty of sun, fine weather and dry conditions,” Hana told Dagbladet.

Temperatures are also expected to rise across much of southern Norway. Winds and cloud cover will be limited, although mornings and evenings may still feel cool.

Finnmark and the Finnmark Plateau in the far north may also see periods of blue skies and sunshine.

Rain in western Norway

The warmer weather will not reach the whole country. Temperatures in Western Norway and along the coast further north are currently around 15 degrees and may rise to close to 20 degrees by the weekend.

However, further rain is expected. Western Norway received heavy rainfall over the weekend, and although Tuesday and Wednesday may bring some dry periods, showers are expected to return.

“There will be rain and rain showers on and off from Wednesday towards the weekend,” Hana said.

Unsettled weather in Trøndelag

Trøndelag is also facing unsettled conditions, with showers and thunderstorms possible on Monday evening, followed by periods of rain during the week. Temperatures will rise there as well, but are expected to reach only around 18 degrees at most by the weekend.

Further north, cloudy and rainy weather is expected. Across much of Norway, the cold air currently affecting the country is moving away, and temperatures are expected to rise in most places.
