A pleasure boat reported missing has been found safe, and a search by Iceland’s Coast Guard and rescue teams has been called off, mbl.is reports. The boat was located off Syðra-Hraun with its two-person crew aboard and in good condition.

Ásgeir Erlendsson, a communications officer with the Icelandic Coast Guard, confirmed the discovery.

He said the search had become extensive by the time the boat was found. A Coast Guard helicopter was preparing to take off, while the Coast Guard aircraft TF-SIF was searching for the vessel.

Sea rescue teams from the capital area, Kjalarnes and other locations had also joined the search.

Erlendsson said it appeared the two people aboard had not had radio channel 16 switched on or tuned in when attempts were made to contact them.
