Police seek witnesses after woman attacked on Kajaani running trail

Police are investigating an alleged attempted rape after an unknown man attacked a woman on a running trail in Kajaani on Saturday, Yle reported.

The man, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, walked towards the woman and attacked her without warning, police said. She resisted strongly and managed to escape.

The incident took place on a running trail in Soidinsuo between Rentukantie and Apilapolku at about 4.30pm, according to police. Officers searched for the suspect with three patrols but did not find him.

Police are asking for information about the man. He was wearing dark clothes and a hood and had dark stubble, dark eyes and dark eyebrows. Police said they believed, based on his skin colour, that he had a foreign background.

Police said no similar cases are known to have occurred in Kajaani.
