One killed in head-on crash in Bømlafjord Tunnel

One person has died after two cars collided head-on in the Bømlafjord Tunnel on the E39, Dagbladet reported.

Police reported the crash at 12.29. When emergency services arrived, four people had got out of one car, while one person was trapped in the other vehicle.

Two air ambulances were sent to the scene, and two people were initially reported seriously injured. Police later confirmed that one person had died and that an air ambulance had taken another person to Haukeland University Hospital.

The deceased person’s next of kin had not been notified at the time of the report. The tunnel is closed because of the collision.
