Sápmi Pride celebrates sexual diversity in Inari

Sápmi Pride 2026 was celebrated in the village of Inari on Saturday, with participants arriving from as far away as Sweden and Norway, Yle reported.

The event began with a parade at noon from the Sámi Museum Siida to Inari Square. The procession moved peacefully through the village.

Inari Square hosted speeches and performances and served as the main venue for this year’s Pride event. Pauliina Feodoroff was one of the event’s patrons.

Participants carried Pride and Sámi flags, colourful signs and other rainbow-themed items. They spent time together, drank coffee and celebrated sexual diversity.

Among those attending were Matti and Katriina Morottaja, who had come especially to watch the musical performances. Inari resident Pirita Portti wore a gákti, or Sámi dress.

Tatjana Kolpus attended to show her support. She works for the Norwegian Garmeres organisation, which promotes the rights of sexual minorities in Sápmi.
