Police warn of knife-wielding man who escaped institution in Lesja

Police in Lesja, Innlandet, have warned the public about a dangerous man believed to be carrying a knife after escaping from an institution, Dagbladet reports.

People are urged to keep their distance, not let the man into their homes and contact police immediately if they see him.

The man is believed to be in his 20s, according to Pål Gjestvang, operations leader for the Innlandet police district.

Police in Innlandet are receiving assistance from neighbouring police districts and national support resources, Gjestvang wrote in the police log.

According to the local newspaper Vigga, a police helicopter was in the area at around 4.45pm on Sunday.
