Cyclist dies after collision with car in Nordre Follo

A cyclist died after colliding with a car on Gamle Mossevei in Nordre Follo on Friday, Dagbladet reports. The man, who was in his late 40s and from Oslo, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been notified.

The driver was a woman in her 80s from Nordre Follo, police duty officer Henrik Larsen said in a statement to the press.

Police forensic technicians and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s accident investigation team have been called in to examine the crash.

Police were notified at 5.13pm. Operations leader Sindre Dahlstrøm told Østlandets Blad that the cyclist had been riding in a group when the collision occurred. The other cyclists appeared to be unharmed, he said.

The driver and several witnesses have been questioned, according to police.

Gamle Mossevei is a stretch of road frequently used by cyclists. It remains closed while investigations at the scene continue.
