From now on, individuals who take a home test and receive a positive result for COVID-19 are required to report their findings to the Public Health Authority.
“COVID-19 is still present in society, and we are likely only seeing the tip of the iceberg,” said Bjarni á Steig, director of the Public Health Authority.
In the first week since this announcement, the authority received 70 reports of positive COVID-19 cases.
“The reports serve solely to provide us with an indication of the current COVID-19 situation in society, allowing us to assess the strain on the hospital system,” Bjarni á Steig explained.
This initiative aims to better understand and monitor the spread of the virus, emphasizing the importance of individual responsibility in reporting positive test results.
