Church fund spends more than 50 million kroner on parsonages

The Church Foundation has spent more than 50 million kroner over the past 10 years maintaining and upgrading parsonages, KVF reports, citing the People’s Church website.

There are 20 parsonages, and parish clergy families currently live in 18 of them. The general rule is that parish priests responsible for keeping church registers live in a parsonage.

Each parsonage has a special cabinet designed to protect the church register in the event of a fire. The priests have a residence obligation, meaning they are required to live in the parsonage. Failing to meet that obligation is grounds for dismissal.
