Marius Borg Høiby wants to be released from remand detention with an electronic ankle monitor at his home at Skaugum, Dagbladet reports. A decision could come on Friday.

Høiby’s remand period expires on Monday. His lawyer, Ellen Holager Andenæs, told TV 2 that he will oppose any extension, including continued detention with an ankle monitor at Skaugum.

“He does not want to be deprived of his freedom, even though he is at home,” Andenæs said.

Police are expected to clarify on Friday whether Høiby can be released, according to TV 2.

Oslo District Court sentenced Høiby to four years in prison in June. The 29-year-old was found guilty of two rapes and abuse of his former girlfriend, Nora Haukland. He has appealed the verdict.
