Group 5B fishing boats face wait for more fishing days

Fishing boat owners in group 5B will have to wait for more fishing days, KVF reports. A proposal to increase their allocation will return to the parliamentary chamber no earlier than late August.

The proposal was sent to the Industry Committee after its first reading on Wednesday. The committee is due to meet on 13 August, while the next parliamentary session is scheduled for 24 August.

According to Vørn, the boats in group 5B have used 44 more fishing days than allocated. They had 3,344 days when the fishing year began and have now used 3,388.

The boats were ordered to stop fishing at 13:00 last Saturday.
