Favrskov says terror suspects are not from municipality

Favrskov Municipality has activated its emergency plan after three people were arrested and charged with attempting to carry out a terrorist attack targeting Hadsten School, DR reported. The municipality said police had assured it that there was no current danger and that the school could remain open as normal.

The municipality will hold information meetings for employees and the school board on Tuesday, with police representatives attending. Parents and staff will also receive separate information through the Aula communication platform.

Favrskov said the three suspects do not live in the municipality and that it has no information about why Hadsten School was allegedly chosen as the target.

Two 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy were charged on Monday with planning, through online platforms, to injure or kill several people at the school. The charges were presented during a custody hearing at Randers District Court. The suspects deny the charges.

According to the charges, preparations took place through correspondence on Discord and Telegram in the period leading up to 3 August 2026. The plan allegedly failed when the three were arrested on Monday morning. Two were arrested in East Jutland and the third in Copenhagen.

Thomas Smidt, director of Children and Culture in Favrskov Municipality, said the information had been difficult for the municipality to receive. Administrative staff will be present at the school from Tuesday morning.

Teaching at the school is scheduled to resume on 10 August after the summer holidays, according to the municipality’s public school holiday calendar.
