Nearly half of drivers on Finland’s main roads exceed the posted speed limit, Yle reports, citing a Fintraffic report based on data collected last summer and last winter from more than 260 monitoring stations.

Forty-seven percent of drivers exceeded the road-specific speed limit in summer, compared with 55 percent in winter. Speeding by more than 10 kilometres per hour over the limit was also more common in winter.

Speeding was most frequent on single-carriageway main roads and roads designated for motor traffic, where the speed limit is reduced from 100 to 80 kilometres per hour during the winter season.
