Meteorologist sees two possible sunny days in Trøndelag

Trøndelag could get sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday, but forecasts vary significantly, Dagbladet reports. Meteorologists say residents may need some luck for the sunny spells to materialise.

The coming week is expected to bring mostly clouds and rain. “You are absolutely entitled to complain,” meteorologist Leonidas Tsopouridis of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute told Adressa, after the newspaper reviewed weather measurements from June and July at three locations in Trøndelag.

The figures showed a particularly poor summer for those hoping to use their sunglasses and sunscreen. Trondheim, for example, had 18 consecutive days of rain between June 21 and July 8, according to Adressa.

On Sunday evening, duty meteorologist Hanne Beate Skattør told Dagbladet that Wednesday and Thursday offered some possibility of sunshine.

“It looks like there will be mostly clouds and rain, but there may be opportunities for sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday,” she said. “I cannot promise anything.”

Temperatures will generally remain below 20 degrees across the country, except in Eastern Norway, where temperatures are expected to stay above 20 degrees next week. The weather will be changeable nationwide, with Eastern Norway starting out fine before showers move in later in the week.

A fire danger warning remains in effect for Eastern Norway, parts of Agder and Telemark. The risk may fall somewhat as showers move in from the south, but meteorologists do not expect enough rain to lift the warning. As a rule of thumb, at least 20 millimetres of rain per day is needed over time, Skattør said, adding that this is unlikely.
