Firefighters contain major barn blaze in Oslo’s Romsås

Firefighters brought a major fire at a barn or outbuilding in Romsås, Oslo, under control on Sunday, Dagbladet reports. There was no longer any risk of the fire spreading.

The fire service initially reported that the building was fully engulfed. Flames threatened a larger building located close to the fire and there was also a risk of the fire spreading to nearby woodland.

Because of heavy smoke, residents in the area were advised to keep their windows closed and switch off air conditioning systems.

Romsåsveien was temporarily closed to allow firefighters to position their vehicles.

Oslo’s emergency fire service reported that it had the fire under control at 2.13pm.
