Firefighters extinguish rooftop terrace blaze in Oslo

Emergency services responded Friday morning to a fire on the rooftop terrace of a 12-storey residential building in Oslo’s Nydalen district, Dagbladet reports.

Residents were alerted by passersby shouting from the street below. Jan Granås, a resident of three years, said he was on his balcony when people below yelled, “You have to get out.” He told the newspaper they initially heard no alarm, but it activated as they descended the stairs.

Police confirmed 155 people are registered at the address. By noon, authorities said the fire was under control, with no reported injuries. The blaze was declared extinguished shortly after 12:05.

Firefighters closed the street and directed vehicles out of the building’s parking area. The cause remains under investigation.
