Staff intervened in restaurant brawl

Police were called to Jettz Burger in central Lillestrøm late Monday night following reports of a fight inside the restaurant, Dagbladet reports.

Daily manager Karim Achek said the incident had deeply shaken staff. “This is a physical and psychological strain for our employees, and it could have been much worse,” he said, adding that clear procedures and preparedness were critical so staff knew how to handle such situations.

The cause of the fight remains unclear. “We have no surveillance cameras in the dining area, only at the cash register for staff safety. We have no idea who was involved or why they started fighting inside our restaurant,” Achek said. “This is terrible, and we take it very seriously. No matter which shop or restaurant you enter, you cannot start fighting like this. It’s about respect.”

An employee, alarmed by the altercation, intervened to stop the violence. “Thanks to the employee, the fight ended relatively quickly. Without that intervention, it could have been much worse,” Achek said.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was struck and kicked while on the ground. Neither he nor the intervening staff member sustained serious injuries. The victim declined medical attention but was assessed by paramedics.

Achek said the restaurant would continue efforts to ensure a safe environment for guests and employees. “Our thoughts are with the person who was subjected to violence, and we hope they recover quickly,” he said.

Police arrived after the employee called for assistance, but the parties involved had already left. Surveillance footage and witness descriptions helped officers locate two suspects—a man in his 40s and a man in his 20s—who were detained. Both have been charged with assault. Øst Police District confirmed both have prior convictions for violence. A third man in his 40s has been reported for obstructing police work at the scene.
