Oslo daycare vandalised, police drop case

Oslo police have dropped the investigation into extensive vandalism at Helenes daycare in the Slemdal district, Dagbladet reports.

The damage was discovered Monday morning when staff and children returned from summer break. Food had been ripped from shelves and smeared across floors and walls, while paint, glue, and glitter were scattered throughout the premises. Parts of the facility were unusable until cleaned.

Police inspector Gard Busterud confirmed the case was closed due to insufficient evidence to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators. He stated that no information linked the act to youth, despite social media speculation. The case may be reopened if new leads emerge.

Pål Sundeng Tønnessen, press contact for the Vestre Aker borough, said the daycare has since been cleaned and parents informed. No items were stolen or permanently damaged.
