Bishop calls new Argir church arrangement reasonable

The Faroese bishop has described a new agreement for the use of a church in Argir as reasonable, sensible, and virtuous.

According to a cooperation agreement, the board of the Church and Mission House in Argir will grant the new church in the area free and time-limited usage rights, reported Faroese broadcaster KVF.

Bishop Jógvan Fríðriksson said the Home Mission is an independent revival movement but also part of the national church. He noted that local church councils bear significant responsibility for churches in their area and, within certain rules, can enter into usage agreements.

At the same time, the bishop emphasized that churches are primarily dedicated to religious activities, which sets clear limits on how they can be used.
