The Faroese freezer trawler Jógvan I has been chartered to a Lithuanian company for Greenland halibut fishing off East Greenland, according to Faroese broadcaster KVF.
The Lithuanian firm holds a large quota but lacks the capacity to utilise it and has been seeking a vessel. Under the agreement, Faroese fishing company P/f Regn, which owns Jógvan I alongside Stapan, will receive a share of the catch value, said Annfinn Olsen, the company’s manager.
The charter covers one or two trips, though Jógvan I has limited remaining fishing days this year.
