A 40-year-old Swedish man convicted of multiple serious offences has been extradited from Turkey to Sweden to serve his sentence, according to a police statement.
The man played a central role in a criminal network in western Sweden and was sentenced in 2022 by a court of appeal to five years and nine months in prison for four counts of preparation to commit murder.
He disappeared from Sweden during the trial proceedings and was subsequently listed via Interpol. He was arrested in Turkey in 2024 and arrived in Sweden on 21 July.
Jonas Hemmar, deputy head of the international unit at the National Operations Department (Noa), thanked Turkish colleagues for their “excellent work” in a statement.
