Finnish public broadcaster Yle is seeking personal accounts from people who feel they worked excessively during their careers and now regret the time spent away from family.

The call follows a recent interview with 32-year-old CEO Aapo Mäki, who has not taken a single day of parental leave. Mäki argued that Finland’s work culture actually involves too little work, a view that contrasts with broader trends: last year, fathers used only 22.5% of all parental allowance days paid by Kela, Finland’s social insurance institution.

A survey by the Confederation of Finnish Industries also found that many in leadership positions wish they had spent more time with their families.

Yle invites those with long careers or retirees who frequently missed family time due to work to share their experiences. Responses may be used in a future article, with all personal data handled strictly for journalistic purposes and published only with explicit consent.
