Summarfestivalurin in Klaksvík will maintain strict surveillance and a zero-tolerance policy against open drug use, organisers said, as substance abuse emerges as a growing concern at music festivals across the Faroe Islands.

The issue gained urgency after a recent incident at the G! Festival, where a visitor publicly recounted witnessing young attendees openly snorting drugs without attempting to conceal it, according to a report by Faroese broadcaster KVF.

Erik Biskopstø, the festival director, confirmed that Summarfestivalurin—expected to draw thousands from 6 to 8 August—will actively monitor for drug activity and enforce its ban.

Other festival organisers interviewed by KVF echoed the same stance, acknowledging that while drugs may appear under certain conditions, they will not be tolerated at their events.
