Man missing in Drammensfjord waters as rescue operation underway

Police and emergency services are conducting an intensive search for a man reported missing in the waters off Drammen, Norway, after he entered the fjord to assist children on a floating mat.

Operational commander Ottar Steinstø confirmed the incident began when a person swam out to help children on an inflatable raft, according to a statement released by Dagbladet on Wednesday evening.

Steinstø said authorities were initially alerted to multiple individuals in the water but later confirmed only one person—a man—remains unaccounted for. A rescue helicopter and a Red Cross drone are currently searching the area.
