Two stray horses prompt reward offer in North Jutland

LARS RASMUSSEN, a groom at a farm near Løkken in North Jutland, has spent nine days searching for two horses that escaped on 12 June. Despite a 10,000-kroner reward offered on Monday, the animals remain missing.

The two older horses broke through a fence and left a herd of nine, a departure Rasmussen called unusual for herd-oriented animals. “There must have been something that really frightened them,” he said.

Search efforts have included ground patrols at night with heat-sensing cameras, daily drives through surrounding areas, and an hour-long aerial search by a friend using a small aircraft. “We’ve been everywhere 50 times,” Rasmussen said. “We see no trace of them.”

A Facebook post seeking information has been shared more than 1,300 times, yet yielded no leads. Rasmussen said the horses were spotted four days ago near the original escape point, but a repaired fence prevented their return. Since then, they have vanished again.

“We’re running out of places to look, but we still believe they’ll be found,” Rasmussen said.
