One child involved in drowning incident in Huittinen discharged from hospital

A child who was involved in a drowning incident in Huittinen, southwestern Finland, on Friday has been discharged from hospital, police confirmed on Saturday.

Rikoskomisario Jari Klaus of the South-Western Finland Police said authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident and the cause of death of the child who drowned.

Emergency services were called to a swimming area along the Loimijoki River in the Loima village of Huittinen on Friday evening after two underage boys had gone underwater while swimming.

Witnesses managed to bring one of the boys to shore, but the second boy drowned. Police have launched an investigation but do not suspect a crime at this stage.
