Music festival in Savitaipale sells out in weeks

Tickets for the Hakamäki Picnic music festival in Savitaipale, Finland, sold out in June, with nearly 2,000 visitors expected despite the municipality having only 3,000 residents.

The event, organized by Savitaipaleen musiikinystävät, raises funds for the local music school, keeping tuition fees affordable. Since its launch in 2014, the festival has grown in popularity, drawing visitors from neighboring areas and beyond.

This year’s lineup includes Kolmas Nainen, Anssi Kela, Jukka Poika, and Lili & Luna. Organizer Kirsi Lavikka attributed the sold-out status to the appeal of the booked artists.

The festival takes place on the green grounds of the Hakamäki museum area, featuring an amphitheater-style seating arrangement. Attendees are allowed to bring their own food, though vendors are also present on-site.
