Drammen, emergency response, fire

DRAMMEN — Fire crews are battling a fast-spreading blaze that has engulfed a terraced house in Drammen, south-eastern Norway, with police warning of further spread through the terrace block.

Sør-Øst police district said the first call reached emergency services at 15:36 on Friday afternoon. Operations leader Lise Bjørnsund wrote in the force log that the unit was already in full flashover when crews arrived.

“It is burning fiercely and there is a high risk of further spread within the terrace chain,” Bjørnsund said in an update at 15:49. Neighbours described the scene as “completely awful” as thick smoke billowed across the district.

Police have asked residents to clear access for fire appliances as multiple fire trucks converge on the scene.
