Faroese statistics office lacks reliable data on homelessness

Kári Holm Johannesen, director of Hagstovan, the Faroese statistics office, says the agency lacks reliable data on homelessness in the islands.

Johannesen told Kringvarp Føroya that while the agency tracks people staying in shelters, temporary accommodations, or hospital wards due to lack of housing, the figures do not represent a complete picture.

“We do not have a full description of the situation,” Johannesen said. “The numbers give an indication of those using these services, but not all homeless people are included.”
