Swan family guided off motorway by police

Police on the Danish island of Funen helped a family of swans—two adults and two cygnets—off the Funen Motorway early Friday morning, according to a post by Funen Police.

The swans were spotted near exit 55 Odense S around 6:30 am, prompting a response from an incident commander and a patrol car. Officers safely escorted the birds across the motorway to a nearby lake.

Part of the motorway was temporarily closed during the operation. Christine Hjarnegaard, duty officer at Funen Police, noted that animals on the roadway often trigger sudden braking, creating dangerous situations.

No injuries were reported, and all swans were unharmed, Hjarnegaard told Ritzau.
