Police investigate severe assault in Sipoo

Police in Sipoo are investigating a severe assault after a woman and a dog were stabbed at a private residence in the Söderkulla area on Thursday afternoon, Yle reports.

The victim was found at the scene and taken for further medical treatment. Her injuries are not considered serious. The dog, believed to be injured, had fled before officers arrived.

The suspect, known to the victim, had left the scene prior to police arrival. Authorities have identified the suspect and are continuing the search.

Later in the afternoon, clothing was found near the shore of Taasjärvi lake in Sipoo, prompting rescue services to conduct searches in the water for a possible missing person. Police are examining whether the discovery is linked to the earlier assault.

The case is being investigated as aggravated assault and an animal welfare offence. The investigation is in its early stages, and no further details are being released at this time.
