Two men suspected of armed robberies in Kouvola
Police in Kouvola are investigating two armed robberies that occurred almost simultaneously in the Sarkola district on Wednesday at around 15:00, Yle reports.
Two men are suspected of threatening two young men with a handgun near Puutarhurinkatu and firing a shot during one of the robberies, according to lead investigator Nina Hietanen, a detective chief inspector.
Both victims were subjected to physical violence, and their phones and other belongings were stolen. Their injuries are not serious.
Police conducted searches in Myllykoski on Wednesday and Thursday, deploying multiple patrols. Hietanen confirmed the operation was linked to the robberies.
Both suspects have been arrested. Hietanen said they have prior criminal records and face charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated firearms offenses.
