Finnish safety agency declines to investigate Siilinjärvi parachute death
Finland’s Safety Investigation Authority will not open a probe into the fatal parachute accident at Kuopio airport in Siilinjärvi on Tuesday, Yle reports.
Director Kurt Kokko said the agency no longer investigates individual parachuting incidents unless exceptional circumstances apply. He confirmed that nothing unusual has been identified in this case.
A experienced parachutist died after misjudging a high-speed landing manoeuvre and striking the ground at excessive velocity. The man, born in the 1990s, later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
