Approximately 300 children participate in Súlur Vertical Off-Road Run in Akureyri

Approximately 300 children participated in the Súlur Vertical Off-Road Run held in Akureyri, showcasing a vibrant event despite rainy weather. This kids’ race marked the first segment of the larger Súlur Vertical event, which is gaining popularity in the region.

The total number of registered participants for the Súlur Vertical event exceeds 800, including around 300 children and 500 adults. The course features various lengths, ranging from a 19-kilometer trail run within Akureyri to a challenging 100-kilometer race starting at Goðafoss. The two longest distances lead runners up the local mountain, Súlur.

This yearly event is becoming one of the largest running gatherings in Akureyri, with significant growth expected as interest in outdoor racing continues to rise.
