Man stabbed at Helsinki Central Station, suspect at large

A man was stabbed in the early hours of Thursday at Helsinki Central Station, with police reporting serious injuries. The suspect remains at large.

Police received reports of the assault around 5:30 a.m. and found the victim at the station square, but the attacker had already fled. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

According to preliminary information, the victim and the suspect know each other. Both are described as young men.

Detective Chief Inspector Juha Piippo, leading the investigation, said police have a clear understanding of the events and the suspect’s identity. Authorities are actively searching for the suspect and aim to detain them quickly.

Police are treating the case as attempted murder.
