Den Jydske Rosenpark in Aalestrup is asking visitors to help after several birds, including three peacock chicks, have been stolen from the park, DR reports.

The park’s chairman, Simon Aagaard, said a pair of golden pheasants disappeared before Midsummer, followed by the peacock chicks. There are no signs of forced entry or struggle, leading staff to suspect visitors may have observed the lock code for the birds’ enclosure during feeding times.

“Either they vanished in some strange way on their own, or someone came in and took them,” Aagaard said.

The park, which is open 24 hours and features 200 rose varieties and a playground, has called for public vigilance via a Facebook post. Suggestions to install trail cameras have raised legal concerns, as Aagaard questions their permissibility.

The board has not yet decided on further security measures.
