Faroese union warns of rising violence in daycare centres

The Pedagogical Association of the Faroe Islands has issued a warning about increasing incidents of violence in daycare centres, where staff are being both verbally and physically abused by children.

The association’s chair, Sanna á Løgmansbø, told public broadcaster KVF that such behaviour is disrupting the well-being of both children and staff, and called for stronger oversight to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

She noted that in several daycare centres, aggression from staff has become a significant factor in children’s daily lives, with the effects of mistreatment later visible in the children’s behaviour.
