Norway’s E6 highway is closed in the northbound direction near Kløfta due to a truck fire, according to Øst police district. Operations leader Fredrik Solbakken confirmed the closure before exit 48, with traffic initially halted in both directions.

By 13:00, southbound lanes were reopened, but emergency crews warned that the entire roadway would be cleared of smoke before firefighting efforts could begin safely. “The smoke will settle over the road when we start extinguishing,” 110 emergency centre duty officer Ole-Martin Isebakke told Dagbladet, adding that crews would deploy a ladder truck, a personnel carrier, and two water tankers to access the fire from above.

Vegtrafikksentralen Øst traffic operator Arvid Wahlstrøm advised drivers heading to Oslo Airport to take alternative routes, suggesting exit 47 via Trondheimsveien to bypass the area. He noted reduced visibility due to smoke and urged motorists to delay travel or seek detours.

Authorities stated there was no risk of the fire spreading.
